We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ajay Venkatachalam, who will lead Crown Fine Art’s activity in India.

He begins the role with 20 years of experience working in sales and operations and will be supported by a passionate and knowledgeable team of fine art handling experts.

His work will center around partnering with dealers and auction houses, helping to store and move pieces of art around, in and out of India.  He said:

“I am beyond excited to be joining Crown Fine Art here in India."

"Our primary goal is to strengthen the trust that auction houses and art dealers have in Crown. While we’re seeing increasing growth in order sizes and requests, the domestic spread of galleries is very high in India. Therefore, we want to emphasise our knowledge, our expertise, and the ways we can support activity.”

Ajay is keen to demonstrate the India operation’s strength in storage, particularly vault storage. He added: “We want to demonstrate our capabilities, especially with the growing interest in the country’s southeastern art market. We’re also looking at training opportunities for the logistics of domestic transport specifically for local galleries.”

This is an exciting time for the country’s art sector, and this appointment underpins Crown’s commitment to helping different regions seize the art market growth opportunities that lay before them.

“When it comes to the Indian art market,” Ajay continued, “people typically think of Mumbai or New Delhi – we’re actually seeing increasing opportunities in the likes of Bangalore and Kerala and so are interested in exploring the opportunities there. Last year, Crown Fine Art participated in Mumbai Art, so we’d love to take part in more activities like this.”
