Crown UK&I are incredibly pleased to have maintained a B score in the ‘Management’ band with CDP this year. This demonstrates our co-ordinated action on climate change issues and reflects our continued progress against an ambitious and holistic sustainability strategy implemented across our UK&I brands.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a not-for-profit charity operating a disclosure system for companies, cities, investors states and regions to report on their environmental and social impacts and actions to minimise these. Their Climate Change Survey uses eleven categories to assess the respondent on themes like disclosure, value chain engagement, emission reduction initiatives and targets, and management of environmental risks.

This is our second submission to cover all our UK&I brands since we began sustainability reporting in 2015 under our Crown Workspace brand.  This year, we scored higher in areas that have been particular areas of focus since our last submission. This includes expanding our emissions reduction initiatives, growing our governance of sustainability, improving risk management processes and reporting on Scope 3 emissions.

We are proud of our continued progress towards reaching net zero by 2040. Since first setting our goal in 2021, we have been able to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 52%. In particular, we have reduced our Scope 2 emissions by 98% against our baseline year through a combination of energy efficiency measures, installation of onsite renewables and continuing our transition to renewable energy tariffs. Our grid electricity consumption was reduced by 63% over the same time period and we are pleased to have transitioned all but one of our sites onto renewable electricity tariffs.

Our pathway to net zero forms part of a holistic three pillars of sustainability strategy which you can read more on here.

"Crown has made a serious commitment to its carbon reduction programme and has invested significantly in this over the last few years. All of the UKI brands are playing a part in achieving this reduction, educating our staff and innovating around sustainability.

Given this huge, cross brand effort, I am naturally delighted to see our achievements recognised in this way, not only through the CDP review of our performance and our B Score but more importantly in the significant carbon reduction that we have achieved particularly with our 98% scope 2 emissions reduction.”

Stephen Hardie, Regional Managing Director & Regional Finance Director – UKI & Benelux
